Bye Bye!
Its time for the last diary entry of the course. It’s
a pity I could not attend on the last lesson. However while reading your blogs
it seems like you had a good time!! The negotiation simulation must have been
fun!
It was a real pleasure to work with you all!! I think
the course was good and what made it even better was the group! It was really
nice to learn from all you guys about cultural differences and experiences
regarding your experiences in negotiation situations in different cultural
contexts. Also the group activities were a lot of fun in addition to being
interesting!
The course taught me many things. I am going to sum up
a few of the most interesting lessons that I learned about international
negotiations. What draw my attention in particular during the course was the fact how
cultural background affects negotiations and how understanding of the other
culture can actually help you to achieve a better result in the negotiation. In
addition to pure knowledge, also negotiation techniques and strategies can be
used to drive the negotiation. I found these strategies interesting as I had
not thought of them before the course. I think that after this course all of us
can incorporate different strategies into our negotiation and therefore make
more aknowledged choices in regards to how ne negotiate.
Another thing that I found particularly interesting
was the diagram that Mia showed us about how negotiations proceed in different
countries (http://www.businessinsider.com/communication-charts-around-the-world-2014-3?fb_action_ids=10201674771653203&fb_action_types=og.recommends&r=US&IR=T&IR=T). I think that that the negotiation culture to a great
extent reflects the overall culture! I think this guide can be used very well
to understand the behavior of the other person negotiating and therefore it can
be very useful for international negotiations.
Thanks to all of you (Including Mia) for the course!
It was fun to learn together.
And…
Hi,
VastaaPoistaEven if you missed the lecture, you took time to read our blogs, and as you wrote we had a good time.
I can personally think that it was also a pleasure to share and work with you in this negotiation course. It was very nice to negotiate with you , for example during the group negotiation and to see that smile, joke and a nice atmosphere can be very important.
Same feeling about the diagram : how negotiations proceed in different countries, that can be very interested to read to prepare an international negotiation and to learn about the counter part culture.
I wish you all the best, Happy Independence Day (even if it was 3days ago) , Happy Christmas and a lot of luck for your exams !
