Truck negotiation

Hello for the second last time!! 

On the previous lesson we had the last assessed negotiation. My team was having a negotiation with Iceland frozen food company. The negotiation was about a truck order. Iceland needed truck for it’s growing business and my company was on the field of manufacturing that kind of trucks. The negotiation was open minded and went relatively well. Both teams were able to think outside fo the box and provide different alternatives for the deal. The beginning of the negotiation was about trying to find out which things were the most important for the other team. This was done by asking questions about the other team. The price seemed to be important for the other team. It was also the most crucial thing for my team (it was worth 5 points!!) and this made the negotiation more challenging.  The other team also wanted the trucks to be delivered into one port and they were also willing to get their trucks painted. Also the delivery time and the payment plan were found crucial. 

We ended up to have a deal in which the company was willing to pay 100k for one truck. They ordered 6 trucks in total. As the price seemed to be a sensitive issue for them and we were looking for future business, my company decided to give the other team an option to buy the truck at a good discount next time they were to order trucks from us in case they paid the whole 100k at this deal. The goods were decided to be taken to one port and the trucks were to be painted for free as the other team promised that we could paint our own logo to the trucks as well (free marketing in UK you know ;)). 

There was a slight misunderstanding in the assignment in my team as we thought favorable deals would be worth 1 point in total. However this was not the case but in the end my team and the other team both ended up getting over 10 points (which was the goal) so the negotiation went well. However this made the task more challenging in my opinnion as you could not be flexible with price or the delivery just to name a few things. 

Both teams seemed to be happy in the end so I consider the negotiation a success. It was a pleasure to do business with you team Iceland!

As today is Black Friday I think it’s good to reming you all to pay your electricity bills…

    Free Marketing, free advertising for your brand in the UK market, and because our trucks will be used in all UK's roads you have to accept the deal haha ! You will get more than you "loosed" !
    It was good to negotiate with your team, the atmosphere was very pleasant, because of your good attitudes and smiles !

    1. Hahah, the marketing deal was indeed good :D It was a pleasure to negotiate with your team too because there was active discussion present and as you said, the atmosphere was good. I wish all the best for team Iceland !
